Creative Writing Workshop with Professor James F. Murphy, Jr.
Do you want to write but find any excuse not to? Then this course is for you. Using Natalie Goldberg’s Writing Down The Bones and Carolyn See's Making A Literary Life, Advice for Writers and Other Dreamers, you will discover how to unleash the writer within.
This course will explore various forms of creative writing such as poetry, journal writing, and short prose. Teacher and student will write and share their work with the class in a safe and inviting atmosphere. Varied free-writing exercises are planned for the course, including guest speakers. Please note that per diem rates are not available. In order to create the chemistry required for this class it is encouraged to attend many, if not all classes. Enrollment limited to eight.
Sarah E. Murphy has a degree in English and Writing from Bridgewater State College, and has also studied Creative Writing at Northeastern University, Boston College, and the Boston Center for Adult Education. Her poem Summer’s Ghost has been on display at Falmouth Booksmith and the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands (RHCI). Her poetry has appeared in numerous editions of Images, the Bridgewater State College Literary Magazine. She writes a monthly jobseekers advice column which can be found at www.summerjobs.com entitled "Following Your Bliss," and is currently working on a young adult book set in Ireland. She also wrote the introduction to the Belltown Mystery Series website.
